How did you come to work at Pretty In Pink Boutique?

I had just moved back home from Denver, CO and I was looking for a position that incorporated working with patients and insurance. My background is working in physical therapy as a tech. I loved working with the patients and then working on the billing side of things. PIPB offers the best of both worlds. I’m able to offer my compassionate side, but I’m also able to be a patient advocate in the insurance world.

What’s your favorite thing about working here?

Walking out the door every day with a whole and grateful heart. I remember each of my patients and carry them in my heart always.

15-Year Breast Cancer Survivor

How did you come to work at Pretty In Pink Boutique?

I am a 15-year breast cancer survivor and my nurse navigator at the time told me about PIPB. Pam had just opened 6 months prior and I was in need of items to help with symmetry after reconstruction. Pam was amazing and helped guide me with items and then to find out my insurance would help pay for part of it was a plus! Years later I was ready to go back to work and my heart was led to possibly open my own mastectomy store. I contacted Pam and it was a God thing that she had just opened a new location in the same town where I lived. I interviewed and have loved every moment with this company and ministry.

How did you come to work at Pretty In Pink Boutique?

I was a patient first. In 2016, I was 6 weeks out from a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction, and I came in for bras at our old Baptist location. Haley was my fitter, and I liked her and the company so much, I asked if Pretty In Pink was hiring.  She said no, but I wrote my name and number on a post-it note and gave it to her.  She kept that post-it note for 2 years! She called me 2 years later and asked if I was still interested in working here.  I jumped on that boat as fast as I could.

What’s your favorite thing about working here?

I’ve been here 9 months now as a Certified Mastectomy Bra Fitter and have loved everything about the work so far.

What’s your favorite thing about working here?

I love being able to make an immediate positive impact on someone’s life. They could come in to see us and we can completely help restore their confidence by fitting them in prostheses and bras, or with compression patients, we could give them the education and garments for them to be able to manage their condition to the best of their abilities. In both cases, we can help our patients to live a better quality of life almost instantly.

Tell us about your family.

I have been married for 6 years now to my wonderful husband David. We have a miniature pinscher named Brody that is our baby! I have 3 sisters, and we are all 2 years apart. David and I are blessed with great and supportive families, and we spend as much with them as we can!

How did you come to work at Pretty In Pink Boutique?

My job was destroyed by a tornado in March and then COVID 19 hit. I was willing to take any job but really thought that working for PIPB would be a great way to give back to other cancer survivors and have a career with a purpose. After patiently waiting and praying I got a call from Candy, who I had interviewed with over the phone months earlier, telling me that they had a full-time position available. I am very honored to be here and to be in a position that allows me to be compassionate and cheerful during a very stressful time in someone’s life.

What’s your favorite thing about working here?

I try to be a cheerful face and voice for every patient. My coworkers are the best. They are all super helpful. I also love the diversity of patients we see and making them feel whole again.

What do you do in your free time?

In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies and cooking. I also like performing random acts of kindness.

How did you come to work at Pretty In Pink Boutique?

I came to PIPB through my mother. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2019. She went through chemo and then had a double mastectomy in December 2019. Prior to her surgery, I took her to PIPB in Franklin where she was fitted for her post-op camisole. Endora was her fitter that day. Endora had such a bubbly, personable personality. We all chatted while mom was being fitted. She told me PIPB would be looking to hire at the beginning of the new year. Come February, I contacted Haley and the rest is history!

What do you do to encourage patients in your job?

I encourage my patients to stay strong! Some of our patients come in to see us right at the beginning of their breast cancer journey. There’s a lot of emotions and we, as fitters, do our best to encourage strength and courage when we see our patients.

What’s your favorite thing about working here?

I love getting to bond with patients and making them feel great.
