The 15-20 mmHg Juzo Sensation tights are medical-grade compression garments specially designed to help manage lipedema symptoms through cutting-edge micro-massage technology built into the fabric. They can reduce pain, increase mobility, and improve shape and comfort for patients with lipedema.
How does the Micro-Massage Technology work?
In a recent blog post on Juzo’s website entitled “Compression and Lipedema,” Paula Donahue, PT, DPT, CLT-LANA, MBA, explains the technology further:
“This textured fabric has a firm yet gentle grasp on the skin, which may provide added stimulation of the lymphatics through repeated subtle “micro” skin stretches during regular movement.
It is important to note that compression needs vary greatly from person to person and with edema severity. That being said, micromassage fabric may be quite helpful to those living with lipedema, especially those who notice a heavy tired feeling in the legs by the end of the day or find comfort when lipedema tissue is more supported through compression.”
Essentially, the fabric subtly massages the wearer throughout the day, helping to improve lymphatic flow throughout the day.
How did Pretty in Pink Boutique help test this product?
Pam Ludwig, founder and expert fitter at Pretty In Pink Boutique, explains that the micro-massage fabric and tights were developed by manufacturer Juzo in conjunction with a physical therapist at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. The expert fitters at Pretty in Pink Boutique were shown a prototype while it was in development and were able to provide feedback on fit, function, and potential use.
“So far,” Pam writes, “we have received mostly positive feedback” on symptom relief and the garment’s fit. Patients report the tights are comfortable and that they really like the wide waistband’s design.
What else should we know about the Juzo Sensation tights?
These tights are specifically designed for patients with lipedema (not for lymphedema) and require an appointment for a fitting at Pretty in Pink Boutique. The Sensation product is available in three styles (full-length pantyhose, capris, and shorts) and two colors (black or beige).
