Emotional and Mental After-Care

The long-term emotional impact of your cancer journey is profound. Since the mind and body are often intertwined, it is not surprising you may experience an emotionally complex mindset. Some of these mental and emotional side effects may include:

• “Chemo-brain” (difficulty concentration or memory issues)
• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
• Loneliness
• Fear of recurrence

There are many healthy ways to move forward in your post-cancer journey as you explore who you have become. Practice healthy habits, like a proper exercise routine and healthy eating. Find joy throughout your daily life by adopting a hobby or trying something new. In addition, continue to maintain quality relationships with your loved ones and your PCP and care team.
